some days

most days, are just like most days
most days the sun smiles
most days the wind breathes

but some days
some days are different
some days you smile
outside - and in
some days you feel life
inside - and out
some days you feel your heart again
the way hearts use to be talked about
some days
just feel differently than most days
some days
make up for most days

oldy

I ate mine,
today -
the ones that you did not -
they were full of life today -
as they were meant to be.
So crisp of a shell,
so crisp -
and so brittle.
Milky,
and rich at times -
but so milky.
There were so many,
in a way -
so few,
so few.
I ate mine today,
ahead of you.

I'm sorry

I am sorry for everything
I wish it were not
but it is
it is for you
as it is for me
I am not sorry for myself
though it is the same
for you I would take it all
all that is consuming your brain

question

is "I think, therefore I am" ("Cogito, ergo sum") equal to "I am, therefore I think?" If so, we've got it all wrong. People "are" every day without thinking one bit.

oldy

from '05

rivers shimmering, reflecting the sky
the air, fresh and crisp, always nigh
pure white snow, soft, cream
replaced by man's dream
mountains reaching, stretching, consuming the air
the earth turning, relaxing, solitaire
our smiles, our eyes, always at a gleam
replaced by a dream
patience, the ability to wait
a strength, a quality, ever great
gone, unseen, unwanted, like a quick decision
replaced by a vision
peace, human connection
feelings of care and affection
always taken, never taught
replaced by a thought
wisdom, importance of experience and sense
a strength to avoid taking offense
thoughts that appear and collect
replaced by a simple object
love, a feeling which cannot be well spoken
strong bonds that cannot be easily broken
our quality that is unique and supreme
replaced by a dream
selfishness, putting oneself first
leaves a feeling of perpetual thirst
makes one quick to anger and hot like steam
found everywhere, outside of a dream

love is blind

love is blind

we all know

and love is fine

we understand

yet we are confined

to “love is blind”

for ears cannot hear

eyes cannot see

minds cannot think

rights go wrong

when love as a drink

is a little too strong

the earth trembles
and thousands die
millions suffer
and millions cry
the obvious questions
why? and why?
the earth quakes
and we must say goodbye
I don't have answers
answers don't apply

request via my ma

I admit

I am a human

so have some taste

and don’t disgrace

our simple race

look at me

and you may see my flaws

take a moment, a simple short pause

look at yourself

and begin again to rate

because no matter what you think or say

simply, you are what you hate

look in my eyes

and you may see a bit of pride

but from yourself, you must not hide

look at my life

and you may see my transgressions

but to yourself, you must also make confessions

look inside my head

and you may see my vices

but on your head, you have your own prices

no matter what you say, I am not budging

for I have learned the meaninglessness of judging

so before you arbitrate, let me reiterate

simply, you are what you hate

one hundred miles per hour,
for a minute and a half.
was it really worth it,
to never again laugh?

I'd ask you if I could,
but I can't, you see.
Fifty feet through the air,
and the landing was not free.

I'd really rather ask you,
if only I could.
and i'm sure, too,
that your family also would.

one hundred miles per hour,
for three or four.
was it really worth it?
we'll never know for sure.

part of an old hymnn

...discussed in Tim Keller's "Counterfeit Gods"

Lay your deadly doing down
Down at Jesus' feet.
Stand in him, in him alone,
Gloriously complete.

one of my firsts - ~`03

oceans of evils
of daggers and hate
trying so hastefully
to determine one's fate
so many wrongs
and so little rights
so much harder to love
than to fight
aging so quickly
but all the wrong ways
so easy to make meaningless
our few earthly days
powers we dream of
that we cannot possess
open our eyes
to realize we're blessed
it's not up to you
everything's not your choice
in this world where we live
you're no more than a voice
a voice in this world
might as well be deceit
before it leaves the mouth
before it is concrete
yet this is not always right
for some words are sometimes true
listen closely if you hear them
for they are becoming more few

Christmas of '09

These gifts we give
They’re not so bad
They’re nice with price
And make us glad
They’re boxed or bagged
With ribbons and bows
With cards that ring
With comical prose

Yet these gifts we bare
Are by no means contingent
They show that we care
But they are all dependent
Dependent on something
That comes from above
The best gift of all
Is the gift of love
This gift has no price
And to all is affordable
If freely given
Is self rewardable

So give your gifts
Open some too
And give out your love
For it is a gift even to you

2010 - (new one)

you have such a nice place here
why do you treat it this way?
its not so bad, you say
it could be far worse, you say
what else could you hope for
with this place, you say
yet you treat it like a whore
and use it as you may.
